nfl power rankings

NFL Power Rankings before Week 7 matchups

  1. Philadelphia Eagles - That was an ugly loss to a division rival. Turnovers and going 1 for 9 on third down led to a bad defeat. They can answer next week in Minnesota.

  2. Detroit Lions - When the Lions lose, they lose badly. They lost every category to the Chiefs. Each stat category was pretty close but they were beaten in every facet of the game. They only forced one punt and couldn't finish their own drives. They host the Buccaneers Monday Night who are very good on the road.

  3. Kansas City Chiefs - The Chiefs seem to be back on track and playing very well. They just beat a very good Lions team and pretty convincingly. They get the divisional rival Raiders this week at home.

  4. Denver Broncos - That was not a clean victory but you get a pass on these foreign games.

  5. Buffalo Bills - Two losses in a row for the Bills and pretty ugly ones as well. They get a much needed bye week this week.

  6. Green Bay Packers - It wasn't a clean game from the Packers either, but they got the win. Hard to praise a close game against a bad team, but the Packers are still a very efficient team. They had 9.5 yards per pass against the Bengals. This is a top team heading to Phoenix on Sunday.

  7. Los Angeles Rams - This was a good win, but it's hard to ignore the lack of offensive production for the Rams. Nacua left the game, but this Ravens defense has been bad. Only 241 total offensive yards against this Ravens team who had allowed an average of 409 total yards in their previous 5 games is a little concerning. The Rams now go to London for a tough one against the Jaguars.

  8. Washington Commanders - It was raining and whatever, but there were way too many mistakes on Monday Night against the Bears. Raining usually helps good running teams. The Bears have the worst run defense and the Commanders have the best run offense. This should've been an easy victory for the Commanders, but the mistakes were overwhelming. That was a bad loss. They go to Dallas this week Sunday.

  9. Los Angeles Chargers - The Chargers first three weeks were excellent. They looked like maybe the best team in the league. The last three weeks they have stumbled significantly. This week was an improvement from the previous two until the 4th quarter. They let the Dolphins score twice to take a late lead. The Chargers need to get refocused. This team has the ability to be the best pass defense and best pass offense in this league. They should be playing better. They host the Colts Sunday.

  10. Houston Texans - We knew the 0-3 start was misleading, and the Texans are back. They've won two straight and off of the bye week they go to Seattle Monday Night.

  11. Baltimore Ravens - They definitely struggle without Lamar, but the defense had a better game against the Rams. They get a bye week this week and expect to have Lamar back in week 8 against the Bears in Baltimore. This will be a very important game for the Ravens. At 1-5, off of a bye, with Lamar back, there will be no excuses against the Bears.

  12. Indianapolis Colts - The Colts get it done again. This team isn't flashy or exciting. They are like the 2000's Spurs or Ned Yost's Royals. The Colts are clean, efficient, and victorious. They aren't elite at anything, but they are solid at everything. This team is one of the toughest teams to beat. They go to LA Sunday to play the Chargers.

  13. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Another win for the Bucs. They move to 5-1 and seem to be building a case for a Super Bowl contender. I am not buying that yet, but they do play hard and win. Their pass defense is their achilles heel and be a problem against playoff teams. They are up against the mighty Lions in Detroit on Monday Night.

  14. Seattle Seahawks - The Seahawks don't have any wins against top half teams, but they have played pretty well. They get the Texans on Monday Night at home.

  15. San Francisco 49ers - A tough loss in Tampa because they couldn't finish drives. They move the ball well regardless of who is playing QB. 2 turnovers, 4 field goals, 2 punts, and a turnover on downs. The Niners need to get in the endzone more. They host the Falcons on Sunday Night.

  16. Pittsburgh Steelers - The Browns are not a good football team, but beating them is still somewhat impressive. The Browns have a very good defense and running for 100 yards on them is tough to do. The Steelers go to Cincinnati on Thursday Night.

  17. Minnesota Vikings - The Vikings were off this week after going 1-1 in Europe. They play host to the Eagles Sunday.

  18. Atlanta Falcons - That was the best win in a very long time for the Falcons. They have looked like a solid team except for that terrible showing against the Panthers. They did what great teams do on Monday Night against the Bills. They won every part of the game. It wasn't turnovers or a fluke special teams play that won the game. The Falcons straight up beat the Bills in every statistical category. That was a dominant win by the Falcons. This team has played very well in 4 of their 5 games. If they can be consistent the rest of the way, this is a playoff team and a scary one.

  19. Jacksonville Jaguars - The Jags looked flat on a short week after a big win against the Chiefs. They are 4-2 and head to London this week against the Rams.

  20. New England Patriots - After a great win against the Rams, the Patriots had a trap game agianst the Saints, but passed. They are really throwing the ball well right now and are actually third in the league in passing efficiency. They go to Nashville this Sunday.

  21. Chicago Bears - The Bears have won 3 in a row after getting throttled by the Lions. In those last three games the Bears have had the 7th most efficient passing game. They don't run it well and among the worst in the league in stopping the run, but Ben Johnson is definitely making some progress. They host New Orleans on Sunday.

  22. Arizona Cardinals - The Cardinals played a pretty good game against the Colts but just didn't have enough. They have fallen into a deep hole in their division and host the Packers Sunday to try an avoid going 2-5.

  23. Dallas Cowboys - The Cowboys are pretty bad in all the important areas. Their offensive line, defensive line, and secondary are all pretty bad. They have a tough divisional game this Sunday against the Commanders.

  24. Cleveland Browns - The best defense in the league isn't good enough in today's NFL and this defense might be losing some of it's will to fight. The Browns have been within 10 points to start the fourth quarter in every single game this year. This team is tough as nails for 3 quarters, but with an offense that is dead last, that full 60 minutes gets mighty hard. The Browns host the Dolphins Sunday.

  25. New York Giants - This is a hard team to analyze. Jaxson Dart looks pretty tough. Skattebo looks very tough. The defensive line is incredible. The offensive line and secondary are big weaknesses, but Skattebo and Dart are the kind of guys who can overcome a bad OLine. The Giants go to Denver this Sunday.

  26. Las Vegas Raiders - The Raiders took care of the Titans and go to Kansas City next week. They are 2-4 and seem to be a lock for last place in the West.

  27. Carolina Panthers - The Panthers took advantage of the Cowboys' terrible defense and now go to Jersey to play the winless Jets.

  28. Cincinnati Bengals - Flacco wasn't enough to get the Bengals to .500. They played a tough second half against the Packers though and host their rival Steelers on Thursday Night.

  29. Miami Dolphins - The Dolphins had some fight in the fourth quarter but it wasn't enough. This seems to be the start of the Miami rebuild. I am interested in where McDaniel will end up though. He does seem to be a good play caller, but maybe not a great head coach in most situations. He could be a big addition to some good teams. The Bills could lose Joe Brady in the offseason. The Eagles aren't as efficient without Kellen Moore. Zac Taylor may be done in Cincinnati. Pairing Mike McDaniel with these offenses could create a powerful combo.

  30. New York Jets - This team shouldn't be winless but they look worse every week. They have good players and a very good defensive coach. It is feeling more and more like these Jets are cursed.

  31. Tennessee Titans - The Titans lost to a bad Raiders team, and host a hot Patriots team Sunday. They are again competing with the Saints for that number one pick, but the Jets have entered that hunt as well.

  32. New Orleans Saints - The Saints play hard and move the ball. I like what I am seeing from Kellen Moore, but the talent they have is just bottom of the barrel.
