The 2025 College Football Playoff is a little different than years past. This season 5 conference champions receive automatic bids. There will be 7 more at-large bids. The 12 teams will all be seeded based on the committee rankings and the top 4 will receive first round byes. After Week 6, here is my CFB Playoff Picture.

The College Football Playoff isn't that complicated these days. Lots love to make it complicated but the truth is this, the Big Ten will get 3, the SEC will get 3, the ACC will get 1, and the Big 12 will get 1. That's 8 of the 12 spots. The last spot will be the highest ranked non-power conference champ which will likely be the American or the Mountain West. So there really are only 3 spots left for argument.

TOP 3 BIG TEN: OREGON, OHIO STATE, INDIANA

TOP 3 SEC: ALABAMA, TEXAS A&M, GEORGIA

Alabama and Georgia have great road wins and look to be ready for any team in the country. They are great at the boring stuff (offensive and defensive lines) and they have top tier talent at the skill positions as well. A&M is also a team good at the boring stuff which is really what seems to separate the great teams from the good teams.

TOP ACC: MIAMI

TOP BIG 12: TEXAS TECH

BEST NON-POWER CONFERENCE: SOUTH FLORIDA

THE REAL "AT LARGE" ARGUMENT: NOTRE DAME, OLE MISS, TEXAS

Notre Dame had two tough losses to start the year, but those losses could very likely be against the 3 seed and the 5 seed. If ND wins 10 in a row and looks good doing so, they will be one of the hottest teams in the country and hard not to have as a top 8 team.

Ole Miss is looking very good with a couple nice wins. They still have to go to Georgia and Oklahama though and if they can finish with 2 or less losses, I don't think any other team will have the resume to jump the Rebels.

Texas will be a hard team for the committee to leave out of the playoff, but man, the Longhorns are riding that line! Even though it was an ugly game, they deserve some respect for going to Columbus and only losing by a touchdown. However, they have already lost again. They have 4 very tough games left and even a couple more that aren't easy wins. Texas is barely hanging on, but I think if they win the rest, they will be in the CFP.

BEST OF THE REST:

Penn State - I have Penn State falling out after that awful loss to UCLA. Penn State could still play there way in though by winning 6 of their last 7 games. That would include a win against OSU or IU. That UCLA loss though will certainly be the worst loss of any team in the playoff conversation though and very hard to overcome next to other 10-2 or 9-3 teams.

LSU - The Tigers are on the outside looking in and no longer control their own destiny. That Clemson loss just isn't a good win anymore. They do have some big ones to come though and if they are all victories, they will re-enter the argument. Vandy, A&M, BAMA, and Oklahoma would some big time resume boosters for the Tigers, but again, they need some of the playoff picture teams to lose.

Tennessee - The Vols did the no-no by losing at home, but it was a an OT loss against the Georgia Bulldogs. They played a rough game at Mississippi State last week which won't look great to the committee either. They need to look great the rest of the year and it won't be easy with games against, Alabama, Oklahoma, and Vanderbilt.
