The 2025 College Football Playoff is a little different than years past. This season 5 conference champions receive automatic bids. There will be 7 more at-large bids. The 12 teams will all be seeded based on the committee rankings and the top 4 will receive first round byes. After Week 5, here is my CFB Playoff Power Rankings.

8v9 Matchup:
Georgia @ Penn State - This seems to likely be two 10-2 non-conference champs. Penn State just fell at home to Oregon and still doesn't seem to be able to get over the hump in those elite matchups. Penn State has a great team this year though but probably won't beat the Buckeyes in Columbus. Georgia just fell at home to Alabama and has a couple more tough games coming. They already won a tough road game at Tennessee. The Bulldogs are good and will probably be even better toward the end of the year.
5v12 Matchup:
South Florida @ Texas A&M - The Aggies seem to be a very tough team this year. Their secondary isn't elite and will probably struggle against top offenses, but the offensive line is very good. This team could win the SEC this year. I have them losing a game or two late and getting the 5 seed. I think the Bulls from South Florida are a tough team and well coached. Will they stay focused through their conference schedule though and beat Memphis? I think they win the American and get the last automatic spot.
6v11 Matchup:
Texas Tech @ Notre Dame - Notre Dame obviously dropped the two biggest games on their schedule, but if they win 10 in a row they will be right back in the playoff picture one of the hottest teams in the country. The Red Raiders have one of the biggest wins of the year winning at Utah. They look to be the 4th automatic conference champ as the kings of the Big 12.
7v10 Matchup:
Indiana @ Texas - The Longhorns lost an ugly game in Columbus and have sinced dominated three lesser opponents. They go to Oklahoma in two weeks for their next big test. Indiana barely got past the Iowa defense, so we will see what happens on their two tough road test this year against Oregon and Penn State. If IU only drops those two though, they will be 10-2 and waiting on the edge.
First Round Byes:
1 Oregon - Just got the biggest win of the year in Beaver Stadium and proved they are the Nation's top team.
2 Alabama - Has the second biggest win of the year after beating the Bulldogs in Athens.
3 Miami - Has a good home win against Notre Dame and unless they lose a game they shouldn't, they will coast to an ACC title and get the 3 seed.
4 Ohio State - Hasn't been tested on the road yet, but took care of the Longhorns at home. Ohio State has a pretty easy schedule this year, so it will likely come down to the Big Ten Title Game.
Outside Looking In:
Mississippi - The Rebels just beat LSU and look pretty good. If they win at Georgia or at Oklahoma they will certainly jump into the playoff picture.
Oklahoma - The Sooners have a brutal schedule in the second half of the year. They have the opportunity to climb to the 1 seed because of the gauntlet they would have to get through. I don't see them winning all those games though and will likely lose enough to fall out of the playoff.
LSU - The Tigers just lost in Oxford and will likely end the year with 3 losses. I think that will have LSU on the outside.
Iowa State - I have Texas Tech winning the Big 12, but that conference is up for grabs and the Cyclones could definitely end up the champs. The Big 12 champ will almost certainly be the 11 seed.
